Sunnynook Community Centre is situated on the corner of Sunnynook Road and Sycamore Drive in Sunnynook on the North Shore, Auckland City.

We have rooms for hire at Sunnynook Community Centre and the Kennedy Park Observation Post which is situated in Castor Bay.

At Sunnynook we have a Community Creche which is open during school terms.  The Creche currently has a waiting list email scc.creche@xtra.co.nz if you wish to add your child's name to the list.

We also run a School Holiday Programme at Sunnynook and a Youth Programme at Kennedy Park during the school holidays.  Please phone Bronwyn or Marion on 410-4902 or email snook.com.cen@xtra.co.nz if you would like more information (there is currently a waiting list).

The purpose of the Sunnynook Community Centre is to enhance social and cultural well-being by providing accessible and affordable opportunities for people of all ages, cultures and interests to come together in a safe and supportive environment to:

  • Make friends, meet people, learn, contribute and participate in the local community.
  • Particpate in programmes and services developed in response to changing community needs.

We will endeavour at all times to:

  • Have a stong community focus driving the decisions we make.
  • Provide a warm and welcoming environment for all centre users.
  • Embrace and celebrate the diversity within our community.
  • Be family focussed and safety conscious.
  • Provide quality facilities for users.




WALKING GROUP - Wednesdays - 9.00am 

Join Marion and Raewyn on Wednesday mornings for a weekly walk in the local area.  Enjoy the company of others.  We will start at a gentle pace for our first walks and slowly increase the pace and distance.  Meet in the foyer of the Sunnynook Community Centre at 9.00am.  No charge.  Walks will be cancelled if it is wet.  You can call the Community Centre to check for cancellation - ph 410-4902.  Registration is not necessary.  For more information email us at snook.com.cen@xtra.co.nz or phone 410-4902.

FREE ENGLISH CONVERSATION GROUP - Mondays 11.00am-12.30pm 

We invite those with English as a second language to join us to practise speaking English and meet new people.  Mondays 11.00am - 12.30pm (school terms only), Sunnynook Community Centre, Sycamore Room.  Light refreshments will be served.  For more information please see Bronwyn or Marion in the Community Centre office or phone 410-4902.

SUNNYNOOK PLUNKET COFFEE GROUP - Fridays at 11.00am - Sunnynook Plunket Clinic

Plunket would like to invite all parents with babies under 12 months to join us for a weekly coffee group at 11.00am each Friday in the Sunnynook Plunket Clinic.  For any enquiries please contact Katrina, email: plunketnorthshorecsc@gmail.com.


LYFORD BUSH RESTORATION - WORKING BEE - SATURDAY 27th FEBRUARY 2016 - 9.30am to 11.30am - Meet at the Sunnynook School Carpark - bring gloves, free sausage sizzle for the workers.

SUNNYNOOK FAMILY FUN DAY - FRIDAY 4th MARCH 2016 - 4.30pm to 7.00pm

NEIGHBOURS' DAY - SATURDAY 19th MARCH 2016 - 1.00pm to 3.00pm

Monday 18th April to Friday 29th April 2016 (not operating on Monday 25th April - ANZAC Day)

A group that meets in the Sunnynook Community Centre would welcome donations of wool (or coins to contribute to the cost of shipping and buying wool) so they can continue creating warm blankets for children in overseas countries and Kidz First in New Zealand.  Blankets and shawls/scarves will be displayed at a later date.  Please drop off donations to the Community Centre office, 9.00am - 4.00pm, Monday to Friday, or phone (09) 442 1247 for collection.
